THOMASTON – Mr. Jerry Homer Purvis, Sr., age 87, of Thomaston, Ga., died March 1, 2013 at his daughter’s residence in Gray, Ga.

Mr. Purvis was born on May 17, 1925 in Helena, Ga. to the late Jerry and Madonna Purvis. He worked as a delivery driver for Silvertown Pharmacy, The Prescription Shop, Paulks Pharmacy, Adams Pharmacy, and Hesters Pharmacy. Mr. Purvis was a member of Clarks Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.

Survivors include his daughters, Mrs. Debra (Phillip) Young of Thomaston, Ga., Mrs. Sandra (Donnie) Melton of Gray, Ga.; son, Mr. Jerry Homer Purvis, Jr., of Dublin, Ga.; brother, Mr. Edison Purvis of Helena, Ga.; sister, Mrs. Lillian Long of Eastman, Ga.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. from Clarks Chapel Baptist Church. Burial followed in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Dodge County, at 4 p.m.
