Sara C. Essig, age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2012.
Born May 10, 1919, in Yatesville, Ga., to the late Forrest and Amanda Chatfield, Mrs. Essig was predeceased by her devoted husband, Edward (Bud) Essig, and her brothers Henry P. Chatfield & John L. Chatfield.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Annette Chatfield as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Graduating from Tift College, she went on to teach English at Rutledge High School, Rutledge, Ga., Yatesville High School and South Broward High School in Hollywood, Fla., where she was active in school functions and Dania United Methodist Church.
A kind, gracious “Southern Lady” who supported numerous charities, our dear Sara will return to her roots where graveside services will be held at the family plot of the Methodist Church of Yatesville with burial beside her beloved husband to follow. “In God’s own time we will meet again.” Please join us in celebration of our Sara’s life on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Yatesville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
