Mrs. Joan Legg Smith, age 81, of Thomaston, passed away October 18, 2012 at Providence Health and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 21, at 2 p.m. at East Thomaston Baptist Church. Rev. Joey Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in South View Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born March 30, 1931, in Molena, Ga., to the late Warren and Lennie Legg. Mrs. Smith worked at Loving Care Day Nursery for over 20 years, where she was affectionately known as “Miss Joan.” She was a member of Silvertown Baptist Church and was a past member of the Happy Hearts Choir. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her daughter, Patti Lynn Smith and her husband, Robert Smith.
Survivors include her daughters, Robin Raybon of Columbus, Ga., and Julie (Don) Greathouse of Thomaston; son, Joey Smith, of Thomaston; sisters, Marie (Carl) Brown of Thomaston, and Lorraine (Bob) Jackson of Thomaston; grandchildren, Rodney (Martina) Harrison of Carlton, Ga., Jennifer Greathouse of Thomaston, Rachael (Jeff) Truitt of Cedartown, Ga., and Murphy Greathouse of Atlanta, Ga.; and great-grandchild, Marianne Truitt of Cedartown, Ga.
