Mrs. Evelyn Scruggs McElroy, age 72, of Thomaston, Ga., died October 12, 2012 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. McElroy was born on July 18, 1940 in Thomaston, Ga. to the late Clarence and Gladys Scruggs. She worked with the William Carter Company for 15 years and later became a homemaker. Mrs. McElroy was a member of First Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Frank McElroy and grandson, Mr. Justin McElroy.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Kim and Malcom Eubanks of Williamson, Ga.; son, Mr. Johnny and Lisa McElroy of Thomaston, Ga.; sisters, Mrs. Shelby and Kenneth Reeves of Thomaston, Ga., Mrs. Pat and Perry English of Thomaston, Ga.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Ramie Scruggs of Thomaston, Ga.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial followed in Upson Memorial Gardens.

In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Stepping Stones Education Center at 141 Futral Rd., Griffin, GA 30224.
