Dear Editor,
Recently, my State Farm colleagues, Trennis Dumas and Robert Fallin, and I sponsored a program at Upson-Lee High School called Celebrate My Drive. This was in conjunction with a nationwide program that was sponsored by State Farm Insurance. The purpose of this program was to celebrate young people getting their driver’s license as well as emphasizing the responsibility that goes along with this important milestone in a teenager’s life. While this program was designed to be celebratory in nature, it also focused on safe driving practices.
Eric Rechtorovic, Driver’s Ed instructor, helped coordinate this event with his students, as well as the physical education classes of Wayne Puckett, Daryl Lockhart, Alicia Wilson, and Bart Phillips. I would like to commend these instructors, as well as the students who participated in Celebrate My Drive. The students in all seven classes that day were well-behaved, attentive to all parts of the program, and showed their appreciation for the small mementos that they received. We were all impressed with the insightful questions that were asked by the students in each of the classes as they took very seriously the information that was presented to them. It was certainly a pleasure to come into the high school with these teenagers and to interact with them in a classroom setting. I was truly impressed with the mature behavior that was demonstrated by the students during our presentation.
Sincerely,
Kay Robinson
