The Thomaston-Upson County Industrial Development Authority (TUCIDA) recently welcomed an Economic Development Bus Tour to display the great opportunity that our community could provide potential businesses interested in locating in Georgia. The Bus Tour brought project managers from the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) and business developers from ECG (Electric Cities of Georgia) to see the community and its infrastructure firsthand. It is a unique opportunity for economic development project managers on a statewide level to visit a community personally and learn what makes the community a desirable location for businesses. State project managers link business owners that are looking to relocate with communities across Georgia that fit the needs of the businesses. This exposure for Economic Development opportunities only heightens the potential economic and business growth for these cities. “The Bus Tour allowed us to showcase our Central Georgia Business and Technology Park as well as our speculative building”, said Kyle Fletcher, Executive Director of TUCIDA. She went on to add that exposure of our facilities and resources are vital with the state project managers as we work together on the recruitment of potential industries. The Bus Tour was hosted by ECG and toured ten West Georgia Cities: Fairburn, Grantville, Hogansville, LaGrange, West Point, Thomaston, Barnesville, Griffin, College Park and East Point. All cities are members of ECG as Georgia public power providers.
