John Simpson was the son of a Presbyterian minister who lived a life of integrity and faith. He was a loving husband and dedicated father. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946, then graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Engineering. He was a devoted employee of the Georgia Power Company for 35 years, and after retirement, he maintained an active lifestyle traveling with Betty, gardening, and enjoying social events with friends. He brought great beauty into the world through his hobby of propagating camellias and rhododendrons. His children and grandchildren are ever grateful for his kindness, his positive influence, and his shining examples of honesty, diligence, and perseverance. He will be so deeply missed.

A private memorial service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery on Friday, September 14, 2012. Dr. Steve Huntley will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Simpson’s name to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements by H. M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel.
