If you’re looking for fresh fruits and vegetables or are wanting to help someone battling cancer, Yatesville and Bickley’s Lake are the places to be Saturday.

Yatesville has its first Market Day Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fresh fruits and vegetables from farms around the area will be on sale, as well as plants, arts and crafts, and yard sale items. While you’re shopping, sample some of Yatesville’s famous barbecued chicken, Maw Maw’s Fried Apple Pies and other tasty offerings.

Sponsored by the City of Yatesville, the event will be held in downtown Yatesville behind Mulling Grocery. In addition to the Sept. 8 event, another Market Day event is planned for the second Saturday in October. Then, in 2013, Market Day will open in April and run through October.

When Market Day is winding down, the 2012 Boobie Ball at Bickley’s Lake will be starting up. The annual Boobie Ball is a fund raiser for SUPPORT (Supporting Upson Patients Properly Over Rough Times), a non-profit, locally-formed organization whose mission is to raise money for the purpose of aiding cancer patients in Upson County.

The 2012 Boobie Ball is from 4 p.m. to midnight at Bickley’s Lake. Admission is $10 and no one under 21 is allowed in. There will be musical entertainment, raffles and auctions, a cornhole tournament, and two 73-inch giant screen TV’s set up to watch college ballgames. The 2012 t-shirts, including SUPPORT, Boobie Ball, Smash Cancer, and Save the Hooters are $15 each or two for $25. Boobie Ball Koozies will also be on sale for $3 each. You can’t bring your cooler, but you can purchase a Boobie Ball cup for $20 and drink draft all night long. Budweiser products and Coke products in cans will also be sold! Bickley’s is going to be serving up some great food and specials all night long!
