On August 7, The Ritz Theatre celebrated its’ 85th anniversary with an anniversary party. Patrons were treated to a movie retrospective from more than half a century, as well as live performances from some of the most memorable movies of all time. The event was free to the public, but the Upson County Concerned Citizens (UC3) group was on hand asking for a donation to go towards the fund to purchase a digital projector for the theater by the end of the year. If the needed $70,000 is not raised, the historic theater will no longer be able to show movies due to changes in the way the movie industry releases films. Pictured is owner Amy Neal (fourth from right) and members of UC3 with the anniversary cake after the show.
