There were plenty of smiles and great times had over the weekend just south of town at Raintree Golf Course, as the Upson-Lee football team hosted their annual Upson-Lee Kick-off Classic golf tournament. Over the two-day tournament, 56 two-man teams enjoyed the course, which was obvious by some of the extremely low scores posted over the weekend.

Players from town joined players from across the state and beyond, including Thomaston natives who have moved from their hometown. Everyone seemingly had a blast, sharing stories about golf, football, and their families with friends of new and old.

“The golf tournament was a success once again,” said Knights’ Head Coach Tommy Watson. “We had a great turn out with 56 teams, which just showed us that we will continue to have the tournament for as long as people enjoy playing in it. It was great to see friends from the community, and friends from other areas which I had not seen for quite a while. The Knights really appreciate the great turn out, and we hope to see some of those same faces on Friday nights in the fall. It was just a blast, and we look forward to doing it all again next year.”

The tournament was broken down into five flights, with first, second, and third place winners in the first four flights. Prizes were awarded for the top five places in the last flight. Here is a look at the final scores for each flight.
