Dear Editor,
I would encourage voters to oppose the TSPLOST tax increase. The “improvements” that we are supposed to benefit from are in fact benefiting another county. Walmart has an option on property in Lamar County, sale dependent on TSPLOST approval. The widening of 36 is to allow for a bypass of Barnesville. Without the TSPLOST, Barnesville would have to pay for the bypass. Having driven frequently on 36 to highway 75, finding no traffic to speak of other than the occasional deer, I can find no reason for the people of Upson to pay for something that would have no benefit to the county.
