Farewell reception for Anita Fillingim May 31

There will be a farewell reception h0noring Mrs. Anita Fillingim on Thursday, May 31, 2012, from 5-7 p.m., at the Thomaston-Upson Arts Council (TUAC) gallery. TUAC is honoring Mrs. Fillingim, who is moving back to Kansas with her husband, Rev. Claude Fillingim, for her devoted contribution to the arts in Thomaston.

Mrs. Fillingim directed Alice in Wonderland (2008), Annie, Jr. (2009), Aladdin (2010), Jungle Book (2011), and Shakespeare’s Inferno (2o11). Additionally, she directed Nunsense (2008), Music Man (2009), The Sound of Music (2010), Forever Plaid (2011), and Oklahoma (2012).

In addition to directing, Mrs. Fillingim sewed costumes and played the piano accompaniment for each play. At TUAC, Mrs. Fillingim served as Theater Wing chair on the Board of Directors for six years.

Outside TUAC, Mrs. Fillingim was Church Pianist at the First United Methodist Church and a chorus and piano teacher as well.
