Coach Darrell Lockhart and his Knights are preparing for their season opener on Dec. 2 at Pike County. The team held an intrasquad scrimmage game, preceded by a three point contest and slam dunk competition last night.

After Micktavious Holt brought the fans to their feet by jumping over one of his own teammates to win the dunk contest, the Knights tipped off their scrimmage game. The teams were equally divided, with one team wearing the home white uniforms and the other draped in the visiting black uniforms.

The game was full of action from start to finish, as fans got to see a glimpse of what is in store for them this season.

“I think the guys showed a lot of intensity out here tonight,” said Lockhart. “It was good for us to get to run the court with game like situations and referees. I thought we did some good things offensively tonight.”

The White Knights came out on top with a 51-43 win. The victors were led by seniors Zach Raines and Jamarcus Larry. Raines finished with 13 points and Larry with 11 points. Also having a very good night, was sophomore Taye Matthews, as he chipped in with 10 points. Jordan Gaines netted eight points, Justin James recorded five points, Creon Baker and Martago Howell each scored two points, and Dennis Diggs finished with one point.

Micktavious Holt led the Black Knights with 17 points, as fellow senior Antoine Draine delivered 10 points. Quent Howell scored five points, Donterrius Harris and Elon Risper each scored four points, and Thad Holmes had three points.

“We still have a lot of work to do over these next few days,” said Lockhart. “I felt pretty good about our spacing tonight, but we need to work on a few defensive techniques. I really appreciate all of the fans coming out to support us. It was a great atmosphere. These players were excited to perform in front of a crowd.”

The Knights start their quest for another state play-off appearance on Dec. 2, when they travel to Zebulon to face the Pike County Pirates.
