Mr. Chapman died Friday, June 13, 2008, the day of his 81st birthday, at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Coggins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Chapman was born in Crisp County, to the late Gus and Alma Chapman. He moved to Upson County at an early age to work in the textile factory. After serving in the Korean War, Mr. Chapman returned to work at Martha Mills, where in 1991, he retired after 47 years of service. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Delane McDaniel of Thomaston; two brothers, Lister Chapman of Taylor County, and Walter Chapman of Crawford County.
Survivors include his wife, Dean Chapman; a daughter, Deborah (Freddy) Beverly; a son-in-law, Richard McDaniel; grandchildren, Heather (Britt) Davison, Holly (Wayne) Mills, Hope McDaniel, Alex McDaniel and Nikki Beverly, Matt Bergmeier, and Josh (Amanda) Beverly; six great-grandchildren, Bo Davison, Hunter Mills, Remington Mills, Leland Bergmeier, Caleb Beverly, Blaze Beverly and Rose Bishop; and a brother, Eulius Chapman, all of Thomaston.
