Funeral services for Mr. Virgil Smith, 63, of Sherri Road, were held Friday, June 6, 2008, at 2 p.m., in the Pasley-Fletcher Chapel, with Bro. Mel Barlow and Bro. Charles Mann officiating. Burial followed in the Shiloh Church Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was a native of Quitman, Ga. He was a technician at Wes Tek. He loved old cars and was an avid fisherman. Mr. Smith was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Barbara Ann (Mathis) Smith of Thomaston; daughters, Renee Ellington and Lacy Smith, both of Thomaston, and Tonya Watson of Elijay; step-daughters, Debra Ard and Tammy Ard, both of Thomaston; step-sons, Mitchell Eason of Thomaston, and Alan Eason of Niceville, Fla.; sisters, Betty Smith, Joan Smith and Melvin Martinez, all of Thomaston; a brother, Marvin Smith of Griffin; grandchildren, Ashli Parks, Tristin Adams and Katlynne Booth, all of Thomaston, and Dixie Watson of Elijay; step-grandchildren, Andy Ard, Amber Ard, Jody Jones and Jason Jones, all of Thomaston, Tiffiny Eason and Tristin Eason, both of Niceville, Fla., and Josh Coggins of Charlotte, N.C.; and a beloved pet, Opie.
