The City of Thomaston is holding its third annual yard sale on the square this Saturday, April 5.
The yard sale, which is from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m., is being held by the Downtown Action Committee.
Booths will be set up on all sides of the square. At press time, only one booth was left to be sold;.
Proceeds made from the yard sale go towards the Thomaston-Upson Rotary Phone Home Project, This project buys minutes for families to call their relatives in the service who are overseas.
At the yard sale, a variety of items will be sold, from baked goods and clothes to pork skins and furniture.
“There might be anything there,” Downtown Manager Sylvia Chapman said. “This event gives people a chance to clean their houses and sell old things.”
The City yard sale will be the first of many events that will take place this month leading up to Georgia Cities Week on April 20 through 26.
Other events inlcude: “If I were Mayor” Contest, a street dance on April 18, a Secretaries Day Luncheon on April 23, a mock city council meeting at Upson-Lee High School, walking tours of downtown Thomaston on April 23-24 guided by Penny Cliff, and Make Thomaston Shine is on April 26. Everybody is asked to join together and help clean up Thomaston.
“We’d like to ask everyone who owns a business or a home in Thomaston to work on making their yard look nice,” Chapman said. “Let’s make Thomaston shine, one yard at a time.”
