Paddle Georgia organizers are looking to sign up approximately 300 participants to paddle a 95-mile stretch of the Flint from near Thomaston to Montezuma. The Paddle Georgia event will include educational programs on the river’s cultural and natural history, tours of facilities located along the river, and nightly games and entertainment. Proceeds from the event benefit Georgia River Network and will be used to support the creation of a Flint River protection group.
Georgia River Network hopes to create awareness of the issues facing Georgia’s rivers and encourage citizens to become involved in protection and restoration efforts on their local rivers.
Georgia River Network is the only statewide nonprofit environmental organization solely dedicated to the conservation of Georgia’s waters. A non-profit 501c3 organization, GRN works to ensure a clean water legacy by engaging and empowering Georgians to protect and restore our rivers from the mountains to the coast.
