Graveside services for Mr. Ray Curtis Love, 77, of Lowell, N.C., will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, 2007, at 2 p.m., at the Gaston Memorial Park with the Rev. Walt Griggs and the Rev. Glenn Flowe officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the Gaston County Last Man Club.

Mr. Love died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at his residence.

Mr. Love was a native of Union County, N.C., and was a son of the late Van Buren Love Sr. and Artie Hargett Love. Ray was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and was a Past Commander. Ray was a World Champion Softball player as well as an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Lowell. He had the quality of never meeting anyone who was not a friend. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Mac Love, and a grandson, Russell Franklin Love.Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Sybil Morrow Love of Lowell; children, Norman (Connie) Love of Thomaston, Tammy Love of Lowell; Ken (Brenda) Hunsucker of Cherryville and Joan (Scott) McCombs of Lowell; a sister, Dorothy Neal of Bessemer City; brothers sisters-in-law, Van B. "Bill", Jr. and Sandy Love and Charles and Penny Love, all of Gastonia; grandchildren, Tammy (Brad) Adams of Thomaston, Billy (Jennifer) Giles of White Springs, Fla., Brandon (Shelley) Hunsucker of Dallas, Lisa (Christopher) Parker of Lowell, Erin (Jonathan) Calvert of Lowell, and Larry Love, of Atlanta; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held this evening from 6-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
