Graveside services for Mr. Donald “Pop” Ray Bishop, 72, of Griffin, will be held Thursday, July 19, 2007, at 11 a.m., in Moody Memorial Gardens in Zebulon.
Mr. Bishop died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Moody Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bishop was born in Pike County, to the late Amzie Ethridge Bishop and Curtis G. Bishop Sr. He was in the United States Army for 13 years, where he served in both Korea and Vietnam, and was a paratrooper. Mr. Bishop worked for the Georgia State Diagnostic Center in Jackson for several years. He was a member of Pritchett Memorial Baptist Church in Thomaston. He loved spending time with this family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, including his twin sister, Dorothy Fay Bishop.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Joan Bishop; daughter, Traci (Tim) Shivers of Pike County; grandchildren, Hailey and Hanna Shivers; sisters, Martha Radcliff of Thomaston, Sylvia Wright of Manchester, and Jan Williams of Barnesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held this evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
