Funeral services for Mrs. Kaye Cox Colwell, 56, of Zebulon, were held Monday, March 5, 2007, at 11 a.m., at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ted Moody officiating. Burial followed in Moody Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Colwell died Friday, March 2, 2007, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.
Moody Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Colwell was born on Oct. 2, 1950, to the late John Alfred Cox and Reba Watts Cox. She was a 1968 graduate of Pike County High School, and was employed as a corporate secretary at Delta Airlines for 32 years. After retirement, Kaye joined her husband in the family business at Middle Georgia Water Systems. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She was a Special Olympics coach and a volunteer for numerous local civic organizations. Mrs. Colwell was a caregiver and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her motner-in-law and father-in-law, Ann and J.C. Colwell, and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rae Ann and Travis Hitson.
Survivors include her husbanad, Jerry Colwell; children, Karrie Anne Colwell and Kevin (Natalie) Colwell, all of Zebulon, and Kayla (Dee) McLeRoy of Griffin; grandchildren, Kade McLeRoy, Emily Kaye Colwell and Camryn and Cole Turner; brothers, Maxey (Susan) Cox and Danny (Cindy) Cox, all of Zebulon; sister- and brothers-in-law, Kay and Al Guy and Dan and Nancy Colwell, all of Fayetteville; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
