The 2007 Relay for Life Kick-Off is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 pm at the Upson Regional Medical Center Auditorium.
“We are very excited about plans for this year's Relay,” said Event Chair Kristi Mulling. “This year's theme is Teaming up for a Cure.
We have a very inspiring guest speaker lined up,” she said. “David Bell, a local cancer survivor, will be our guest speaker at Kick-Off.”
According to Mulling, planning is an all year event and this year's goal is a top priority.
“The American Cancer Society has set 2007's goal at 22 teams and $73, 000 which we are hoping to far exceed,” said the Relay veteran. “We average about 20 teams a year so we are confident that ACS's goal is something we can achieve easily. We are actively encouraging folks to get involved as early as possible so we can make this event as successful as our past ones. We will have team captain packets available for those attending to pick-up at Kick-Off. We are also in the process of setting up dates of team captain meetings.”
Mulling added that door prizes will be given away and food will be provided at Kick-Off by local restaurants and grocery stores.
Anyone who is planning to attend Kick-Off needs to R.S.V.P. at 706-472-3515.
Relay is scheduled for April 27 and 28 at the Thomaston - Upson County Track from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m.
All proceeds raised through the Relay for Life benefit the American Cancer Society. This money helps fund cancer programs and research both locally and nation wide.
