An Upson County man was injured in a wreck after hydroplaning Saturday, Dec. 30.
Gregory J. Franklin, 52, of Bonds Road, was taken to Upson Regional Medical Center after his 2001 Nissan Pathfinder flipped four times while traveling on North Church Street.
According to reports, a witness told officers that the vehicle appeared to hydroplane and the driver lost control, first striking a telephone pole and then flipping three or four times, before hitting a concrete pole.
Franklin told police that he doesn't remember anything after driving past Ingles. He was trapped in the vehicle for about 30 minutes, before being removed by rescue workers.
Rescue workers arrived on the scene shortly after the accident occurred around 3:30 Saturday afternoon. Traffic came to a stop in front of the Wal-Mart shopping center as Thomaston Fire trucks, Upson EMC workers and various law enforcement personnel made their way to the scene.
Franklin was taken to URMC by ambulance for visible injuries and was reportedly released the next day. He was charged for failure to maintain lane.
