Funeral services for Mr. John Wayne Coley Sr., 62, of Lithonia, were held Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, in the chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Herbert Torbert officiating. Burial followed in Green Meadow Memorial Gardens in Conyers.

Mr. Coley died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at his residence.

Coggins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Coley was born on May 4, 1944, in Upson County, Ga., to the late John Frank and Ida Mae Haney Coley. He served his country proudly, having retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service as chief petty officer. Mr. Coley was previously employed with Grinnell systeMS as a sprinkler installer. He was a member of the Shriners. Mr. Coley was preceded in death by his sister, Mrs. Betty L. Cox.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy “Mickey” Coley of Lithonia; a son, Mr. John W. (Petra) Coley Jr. of West Germany; a daughter, Ms. Pamela Schrock of Flowery Branch; step-daughters, Mrs. Rita (David) King of Good Hope and Mrs. Kathie (Randy) Worthy of Conyers; a brother, Mr. Richard (Sandra) Coley of Thomaston; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
