Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Short Best, 86, of Adams Road, will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at 11 a.m., at Thomaston Church of God, with the Rev. Edward Rigby, Mark Gasque, James Taylor and Brian Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in The Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Best died Friday, June 16, 2006, at her residence.

Mrs. Best was a native of Atlanta. She was a former cloth inspector at Thomaston Mills. Mrs. Best was a member of the Thomaston Church of God, and worked in the mission field in Hawaii. She was the widow of Luther F. Best.
Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Ernestine (Billy) Engle and Mrs. Elaine Taylor, all of The Rock, Mrs. Joyce (Eli) Strom of Blackshear and Mrs. Bonnie (Edward) Webb of Cleveland, Tenn.; a son, Mr. Ralph (Linda) Best of The Rock; sisters, Mrs. Monteen Arnold of Thomaston and Mrs. Merlyn Skjold of Middlebrooks Heights, Ohio; grandchildren, Mark Gasque of Whtieville, N.C., Tina Laws of Destin, Fla., Barry Kirkpatrick of Cleveland, Tenn., Dawn White of Thomaston, Kristy Wilson of Pensacola, Fla., James Taylor of Rogersville, Tenn., and Brad Best and Laura Best, both of The Rock; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held this evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
