Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Lewis of Thomaston, will be held Saturday, March 18, 2006, at 2 p.m., at the Pine Chapel Baptist Church, with Pastor W. L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Lewis died Saturday, March 11, 2006,

Brother Joseph Lewis was born in Lamar County on Aug. 11, 1935, to the late Elijah Lewis and the late Annie Maude O'Neal Lewis. He was raised in Upson County where he attended public school and grew into manhood. He was employed with Federal Paper Board for many years and retired from B.F. Goodrich after 10 years. He was preceded in death by five sisters: Dorothy A. Lewis, Annie Strickland, Louise Strattan, Iona Battle and Annie Ree Sullivan; and one brother, Charles Lewis.

Survivors include brothers and sisters, James (Bernice) Lewis, Ronnie (Freddie) Lewis, Suzanne Lewis (J.D. Greene), all of Thomaston, and Juanita (Robert) Sheffield of Detroit, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Mary Lewis of Thomaston; a very devoted niece, Regina Lewis of Thomaston; aunts, Essie Mae Miller of Macon, Olivia Hightower of Macon and Josephine Davis of Barnesville; uncles, George O'Neal and Freeman O'Neal of Barnesville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
