Funeral services for Mr. Wallace M. Joiner, 67, of Meansville, were held Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at 2 p.m., from the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Barber and Dr. Edwin L. Cliburn officiating. Burial followed in Upson Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Joiner died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Emory University Hospital.

Mr. Joiner was a native of Taylor County, born April 17, 1937, to the late William Thomas and Marie Peacock Joiner. He had been a resident of Upson County for 61 years. Mr. Joiner graduated from R.E. Lee Institute, where he was batallion commander of the R.O.T.C. unit. He had been employed by Bombardier Capital Inc. and had owned Joiner Housing. Mr. Joiner was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eloise Joiner of Meansville; two daughters, Mrs. Cheri Joiner of Thomaston and Mrs. Cristi Cole of Augusta; a son, Mr. Douglas Joiner of Augusta; a step-daughter, Julie Turner of Atlanta; three step-sons, John Butts and Andy Butts of Dacula and Jeff Turner of Thomaston; two brothers, Mr. Eugene (Jo Ann Hewett) Joiner and Mr. Tommy (Pat) Joiner of Augusta; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or Hope Lodge of Emory University Hospital, 1552 Shoup Court, Decatur, GA 30033.
