It was a weekend of festivals and parties.

Not only did hundreds of people turn out for this year's Homecoming events, but hundreds more took to the downtown streets Saturday for the Flint River FallFest.

Also, close to 300 people packed the Upson Senior Center friday for the second annual Octoberfest.

"The FallFest is just absolutely phenomenal," said Thomaston Mayor Hays Arnold. "People are having a great time."

Thomaston Mainstreet Director Tyane Presley said more than 40 venders sold everything from cotton candy to hats to an assortment of food.

Residents began lining the streets of Thomaston for the parade just before 11 a.m.

Later in the afternoon, festival goers danced at the Courthouse to the Motown music of the Fabulous Tams.

"There's been a lot of great entertainment, a lot of participation on the part of vendors and the public," the mayor said.

"The weather's beautiful and we're very happy that it went off as well as it did."

Meanwhile, at Octoberfest, Comedian and recording artist Gary Claxton kept seniors in stitches Friday morning..

There were art and craft booths, a cake auction and bazaar.
