Funeral services for Mrs. Lurline T. Smith of Dunwoody, were held Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. Burial followed in Arlington Memorial Park.

Mrs. Smith died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002.

H.M. Patterson & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith was born in Thomaston, on Aug. 20, 1924. She graduated from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and was married to her high school sweetheart, Mark A. Smith, Jr. for 58 years. Always supporting her husband as he rose through the ranks of Kiwanis International she served as Kiwanis International First Lady during his 1979-80 term as Kiwanis International President. An avid golfer and member of the Cherokee Women's Golf Association, she was proud of her two (2) hole-in-ones.

Survivors include her husband, Mark A. Smith, Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Leila and Dick Doll of Victor, N.Y; a son and daughter-in-law, Angie and Mark A. Smith, III, of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Alan Smith, Angelynn Doll and DJ Doll; two sisters, Florence Ford and Annette Penn, both of Cobb County.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Kiwanis International Foundation "Children's Fund", 3636 Woodview Trace, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
