‘Boobie Ball 2012’ will be Sept. 8 at Bickley’s Lake

Cancer is a disease, a destroyer of dreams, unpredictable with uncertain outcomes.

SUPPORT (Supporting Upson Patients Properly Over Rough Times) is a non-profit, locally-formed organization whose mission is to raise money for the purpose of aiding when personal finances fall short, splurging when smiles are few, assisting when the bills are many, and improving the overall daily quality of life so that Upson County cancer patients can concentrate on what really matters – surviving.

SUIPPORT is different from most organizations dedicated to raising money for cancer research. Until there is a cure, life with cancer is still a life worth living. While therapy, medicines and rehabilitation have their effects, so does the fulfillment of paying the utility department a little sooner, taking the kids to the beach, or just enjoying a simple dinner for two.

SUPPORT’s annual cancer relief fund raiser is the Boobie Ball. Over the past four years, the Boobie Ball has raised more than $100,000 for SUPPORT and its goals of supporting Upson County cancer patients.

This year, Boobie Ball 2012 will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012, from 4 p.m. to midnight at Bickley’s Lake. Ten dollars gets you into the fun, and be sure to bring a chair. No one under 21 will be admitted.

Musical entertainment will be provided by HR’s Classic Party Tunes with Stan and Chrystie Pitts, Lady Creech, and Loose Change! There will also be two 73-inch giant screen TV’s set up to watch the SEC game between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Missouri Tigers, plus other college ballgames.

There will be a variety of raffles and auction during the day, with prizes including a golf cart, rifle, laptop computer, and much more. Raffle tickets can be purchased at The Potting Shed, The Upson Beacon, The Thomaston Times, and Northside Pharmacy.

There will be a Cornhole Tournament with cash prizes, a dunking booth with some of your “favorite” people in the community ready to get wet, and the 2012 t-shirts, including SUPPORT, Boobie Ball, Smash Cancer, and Save the Hooters are $15 each or two for $25. Boobie Ball Koozies will also be on sale for $3 each.

You can’t bring your cooler, but you can purchase a Boobie Ball cup for $20 and drink draft all night long. Budweiser products and Coke products in cans will also be sold! Bickley’s is going to be serving up some great food and specials all night long!

All proceeds are donated to a quality of life fund benefitting local Upson County cancer patients. One hundred percent (100%) of the donations stay in Upson County. Consider making a donation at one of the following bank locations: Bank of Upson, Colony Bank, West Central Georgia Bank, or United Bank.
