Two men have been arrested in connection with the Dec. 11 armed robbery of the Lucky Mart store on Crest Highway. The men have been identified by Upson County Sheriff’s investigators as Oscar Lee Jones, 21, and Dominique Jamal Kendall, 20.

According to an incident report by Sgt. Robert Barfield, he answered an armed robbery call at the Lucky Mart about 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 11. The clerk told him she was talking with a customer when a black male entered, pulled out a handgun, and demanded the money from the register. She gave him an undisclosed amount of money and the robber fled, running on foot behind the store toward Sunnyside Road. The suspect was described as being a black male, wearing a red hoodie with lettering on it, a black headband, and blue jeans.

An investigation into the robbery led investigators to Jones, who was arrested a day later and charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault , and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Kendall was identified as driving the getaway car. He was also arrested the day after the robbery and charged with parties to a crime of armed robbery.

A Thomaston woman is facing a charge of aggravated assault after allegedly striking a male friend in the head with a brick on Dec. 13. She has been identified as Joanne Elizabeth Denson, 22.

According to a report by Dep. James Roscoe, he responded to a call at 149 Marcey Drive. There the male victim said Denson had come to his house and began arguing about him being with another female. The victim said he walked out of the house and said Denson followed him out and allegedly grabbed a brick and hit him in the back of the head. The victim had a cut about 4 inches long on the back of his head and was transported to Upson Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Denson left the scene before Dep. Roscoe arrived, but he received a call that she was at the Upson County Jail. When he talked to her, she said the victim had allegedly hit her in the mouth, but Roscoe reported that she did not have any marks on her face. Denson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
