Like the phoenix from Greek mythology, which is reborn by rising from its ashes, VFW Post 6447, above, is open again after a devastating fire destroyed the original building, below, two years ago. The post, located on Veterans Drive, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday. While the new building is only 3,000 square feet, compared to 21,000 square feet in the old building, the reduced size is more manageable. For more information and photos of the new building and the ribbon-cutting, see Friday’s edition of The Thomaston Times.
