Thomaston police are looking for a suspect who punched a Charter Communications repairman in the face as he sat in his truck. According to a report by patrolman George Little, on Oct. 13 the repairman was working at a house on Triune Avenue. When he got through, he was sitting in his truck at the intersection of Triune Ave. and Triune Mill Road, finishing up some paperwork, when a man walked up to the truck and punched the repairman in the nose through the open window. The man then fled the scene. The repairman suffered a bloody nose.

A resident of The Rock has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs and other charges after running into the back of another vehicle on West County Road at Highway 19 North. Patrolman Johnny Middlebrooks responded to an accident call on Oct. 8. The driver, identified as Bill Whitley, Jr., 31, of The Rock, was in a maroon 1987 Ford F-150. He told Middlebrooks he was stopped behind the other vehicle at the traffic light and was adjusting his radio. He said he looked up and saw the light was green and started forward before he realized the car in front of him was not moving, and he ran into the back of it, causing a dent in its bumper. Middlebrooks’ report stated that Whitley was glassy-eyed and his speech was slurred. Middlebrooks asked if he has taken any drugs recently, and Whitley allegedly said he had taken some blood pressure medince, a Loritab, MS Cotlin, and something else. He said he had two steel rods in his back and showed Middlebrooks the scar. The officer did a field test on Whitley and placed him under arrest for DUI – drugs, and following too close. A check of his identity turned up a failure to appear warrant for him in Henry County. Whitley refuse to do a blood test and was transported to the Upson County Jail.
