Ashley Biles|The Thomaston Times

The annual Summer Reading Program at the Hightower Memorial Library and the Yatesville Public Library kicks off on Tuesday, May 28 with a party at each of the libraries. Hightower Memorial Library will have their party at 2 p.m. and children can come dressed as their favorite storybook character while they watch Juggler Ron Anglin perform. The Yatesville Public Library will host their party at 5 p.m. and ask that children come dressed as their favorite storybook character also. There are many fun and free activities throughout the summer with the reading program. Children and teens may register to participate beginning on Friday, May 24 at each of the libraries. For more information and a schedule of events, call the library at 706-647-8649 (Hightower) or 706-472-3048 (Yatesville). Pictured above is the theme of the program, ‘Dig Into Reading,’ and right is local artist Fawne DeRosia, who has done the paintings for the Hightower Library for the last four years. DeRosia stated that she has been happy to help promote the summer reading program each year and has been a patron of the library for a long time. Library Associate Dawn Knight thanked DeRosia for her willingness to continue to help out of the goodness of her heart each year.
