James Searcy of URMC named ‘Hospital Hero’

Submitted

Upson Regional Medical Center’s James Searcy was awarded the prestigious Georgia Hospital Heroes Award at the Georgia Hospital Association’s annual Hospital Heroes Awards luncheon this week in Atlanta. Searcy was one of only 10 individuals statewide to receive the award and was recognized for his unwavering dedication and loyalty to hospital staff and patients for more than four decades.

“The 11 winners of these esteemed awards represent some of the most compassionate and devoted health care workers in our state,” said Joseph Parker, president of GHA. “They have dedicated their lives to something far greater than themselves and our communities and health care systems are far better because of their devotion. We are pleased to honor them.”

Searcy began his career at the hospital in 1969 as an orderly and now works as an orthopedic tech. Through the years, he has always been known to show the utmost gentleness and compassion to his patients, calming them and putting them at ease. Searcy’s willingness to go the extra mile and his ever-pleasant attitude make him a mentor and role model for hospital staff. He has trained many employees in his attitude of care and concern, teaching them that the most effective care includes showing kindness and thoughtfulness to their patients.
