Virginia Penny has been a member of Team Upson for 17 years. As Senior Clerk in the water department, Virginia’s responsibilities include accounts receivable and payable, compiling information from meters, printing and mailing water bills, customer service and many other duties. Virginia takes each responsibility serious and goes above and beyond to make sure deadlines are met. Virginia’s influence is seen throughout county government. She attends all employee meetings, helps with Christmas luncheon and summer picnic, fills in when other employees are out and has even helped out in other departments when short-handed. Recently an employee had a family emergency and needed time off. Virginia canceled her vacation and filled in for the absent employee. To say Virginia is a “great employee” would be an understatement. She is hardworking, dedicated and a tremendous asset not only to the water department but to all of Upson County. The Upson County Water Department is honored to nominate Virginia Penny as November, 2012 Employee of the Month. Virginia received her plaque from Upson County Commission Chairman Maurice Raines.
