The Upson-Lee Cross Country Knights and Lady Knights traveled to Lamar County to participate in the Trojan Invitational. Joining Upson-Lee and Lamar County were teams from Pike County, Spalding, Crawford County, Griffin, and Marion County.

The Lady Knights took to the 3.1 mile course first, with Abigail Manley and Megan Collins going head to head down the stretch, along with a runner from Spalding County. Manley placed ninth overall , with Collins finishing eleventh, just missing a medal spot.

Manley, who is a freshman, ran the race in a time of 24:25, and Collins finished with a time of 24:28, just three seconds off the time of Manley. A runner from Spalding finished first in the event with a time of just over 21 minutes. The Lady Knights placed third overall as a team.

The Knights followed the Lady Knights with a second place showing. Brian Reveire, Dalton Strom, and Levi Ellerbee each placed in the top 10. Reveire finished in third place over all with a time of 18:40, with Strom placing fourth in a time of 18:47. Levi Ellerbee finished ninth with a time of 19:26.

The Knights and Lady Knights will both participate in The Rock Ranch Invitational this weekend. Look in Tuesday’s edition of The Times for a full recap and photos from the event.
