Two Thomaston men remained in the Upson County Jail early today, one charged in connection with computer pornography and the other on a probation violation and also suspected of computer pornography.

Bobby Ray Christian, 19, 509 Fourth Avenue, was charged with probation violation after officers entered his home as part of court-ordered intensive probation. Probation officers, in a Dec. 23 visit, discovered images on his computer which, after further investigation, could result in additional charges.

According to court records, on May 18 and July 4 of 2002, Christian enticed a child under the age of 16 "for the purpose of child molestation." Christian was sentenced to intensive probation for that crime and was ordered to stay away from the victim until she reached age 18.

In a separate case, Dennis Russell Hartley, 51, 595 Firetower Road

Details about Hartley's arrest were sketchy, but according to a criminal warrant application on file in Upson Magistrate Court, Hartley "did possess five computer child pornographic images."

According to reports, the man had sold his computer and the new owner found the photos and called the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which seized the computer and sought Hartley's arrest.
