T-Town’s Georgia Bandits win AAA State Championship

The Georgia Bandits won the 13AAA USSSA Georgia State Travel Ball Championship on June 23-24 in Hampton, GA. This Final Four Tournament consisted of the top four 13-year-old AAA teams in the state. The Bandits had to win a best two out of three on Saturday vs the GA Express of Fayetteville to advance to Sunday.

They lost game one 10-1 and then won games two and three 11-0 and 13-9. They then advanced to play a Championship Series best two out of three on Sunday. On Sunday, the Bandits swept the Home Plate Chilidogs of Peachtree City by scores of 3-1 and 11-4 to win the State Title. This puts them at an overall record of 39-10 for the 2012 season.

Kalen Puckett led the Bandits in hitting during the tournament, hitting a whopping .765 (13 for 17). Nash Franklin hit .416 (5 for 12), Zack Gooden . 388 (7 for 18), Clark Daniel .352 (6 for 17), and Dupri Carter hit .294 (5 for 17).

The Georgia Bandits will be playing in the World Series in Gulf Shores, AL on July 5 -8.
