Morley named Times’ general manager

Chuck Morley, a 35-year newspaper veteran, has been named general manager of the Thomaston Times.

Morley is a journalism graduate of East Tennessee State University and began his newspaper career in Johnson City, Tenn.

After graduation, Morley spent 17 years at the Fort Lauderdale News and Sun-Sentinel as sports editor, asst. city editor and Sunday editor.

He has spent stints at the Key West Citizen, the Potomac News, the Douglas County Sentinel and most recently as publisher of the Fayette County News where he spent 14 years.

“It’s great being in Thomaston,” Morley said. “I love community journalism and this is a great opportunity afforded me by Heartland Newspapers to continue my career.

“I look forward to meeting the community and people we serve.”
