Rev. Lamar Walter Coggins, age 87, of Thomaston, Ga., died September 20, 2012 at his residence.
Rev. Coggins was born on March 13, 1925 in Pike County, Ga., to the late George and Lona Coggins. He served his Lord as a Baptist Preacher for many years until his retirement. Rev. Coggins was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Mr. Kerry “Buddy” Coggins.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Georgia Clay Coggins of Thomaston, Ga.; daughters, Mrs. Cheryl and Don Peacock of Thomaston, Ga., Mrs. Kay and Jimmy Parrott of Thomaston, Ga.; son, Mr. Tim and Donna Coggins of Oakboro, N.C.; brothers, Mr. Fred and Virginia Coggins of Thomaston, Ga., Mr. Donnie Coggins of Augusta, Ga.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery.
