Vince Lombardi once said, “Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to win is,” and that is the attitude which the Lady Knights volleyball team is carrying in the 2012 season.

The Lady Knights have dropped their first two matches of the season against stiff competition like Harris County and Callaway High School. Even though the Lady Knights are 0-2 early on in the season, they have shown tremendous strides since their inaugural season a year ago.

“We played really well against Harris County,” said head coach Angela Murchison. “Harris County was just the better team. I thought we really had a chance against Callaway, but after winning the first game, we just could not capitalize. The season is still young, as is our program, but I think we are headed in the right direction.”

The Lady Knights won their first game of the season, defeating Callaway by a 25-22 score, but ultimately lost the match losing the next two games 25-15. Upson-Lee travels to Harris County High School today, where they will get some much needed exposure to some good volleyball teams in the “Play for a Cure” tournament.

Upson-Lee returns home on Monday, where they will host the Lady Trojans from Lamar County High School. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
