Memorial services for Mr. Jack Weeks, 71, of South Green Street, were held Sunday, April 27, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Delph and Dr. Albert Simmons officiating. Private commital will take place in Glenwood Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Weeks died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Christian Ministries Hospice in Griffin.

Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Weeks was a native of Jefferson County, Ala. but has lived in Upson County since childhood. He was a 1949 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute and a civil defense volunteer. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne and received a Purple Heart. He started the criminal justice program at Gordon College and was a parole officer with the Georgia State Department of Pardon and Parole for 31 years. Mr. Weeks was a member of the Thomaston First Presbtyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nita Pope Weeks of Thomaston; his mother, Mrs. Margaret C. Weeks of Thomaston; daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Christi Weeks (Dana) Wooten of West Columbia, S.C.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. Wesley (Shirley) Weeks of Thomaston and Mr. Rex (Bonnie) Weeks of Naples, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Danielle Wooten of West Columbia, S.C.;

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 841, Thomaston, GA 30286, or Christian Ministries Hospice, 621 Carver Road, Griffin, GA 30224.
