The seventh annual Flint River Fall Fest will be held this Saturday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Thomaston on the square. Over 100 vendors will be present at the festival offering a variety of food, crafts and entertainment.
Those attending the event are sure to not go hungry with the many different food vendors that will be available. Some of the options are Tipsies Funnel Cakes, which offers funnel cakes, hot dogs, curly fries, sweet tea, lemonade, coffee, cokes and water; Barbara’s Shaved Ice and Cato Shaved ice for the sno-cone lovers; Kettle Corn; Sharon Plott Funnel cakes whose menu includes funnel cakes, spiral fry, Philly cheesesteaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade lemonade and much more. Sweet Things BBQ has BBQ chicken and pork and New St. Paul CME Church will be selling cajun fried turkey and homemade cakes. The Rotary Club of Thomaston will be serving soft tacos and King’s Hot Spot will have fish plates and fish sandwiches. There is surely something for everyone with vendors serving a variety of different meals and snacks, those listed above are merely a sampling of some of the items available.
Parents need not worry about what to do with the kids because there will be plenty of activities to keep them occupied. G&R Rock Climbing Adventures will be at the festival offering a rock wall and spider bunge jump. For theanimal lovers there will also be a petting zoo and pony rides. Can”U” Play is set to have a booth and will have games such as big hoop shoe, tee ball baseball challenge and a crayon playland. Allied Amusements will have a crazy toss and Handy Memories Wax Hands will give children and adults of all ages the chance to create a colored mold of their hands out of wax. For those wishing to look into the future there will be Psychic Readings by Nina. There are plenty of activities to keep the young and young at heart entertained throughout the day.
For those in the mood to shop the Flint River Fall Fest has many vendors offering handmade items such as custom knives, hand stamped cards, book marks and luggage tags, beaded jewelry and gift baskets. Pap’s Swings N’ Things has a selection of picnic tables, swings, arbors, adirondack chairs and deer troughs.
Extreme Gymnastics will have a booth selling monogramed Christmas balls, handmade goat milk soap and cookbooks. Cakks Creations has handmade jewelry of all types and prices as well as wreaths and wall hangings. Other vendor items include t-shirts, children character pillows, wooden signs and carvings and decorative and functional pottery.
The 2009 Flint River Fall Fest will also have a pumpkin decorating contest, Kiwanis pet parade, a fishing derby, costume contest and cake baking contest. The big parade starts at 12 noon. The festival will go on rain or shine.
