Region foes put aside their rivalries in Columbia, S.C., on March 9, as the basketball All-Stars from the Georgia Independent School Association tipped it up against the All-Stars from the South Carolina Independent School Association.
The Georgia squad of 12 girls was selected from schools from both the A and AA divisions of GISA. Representing Region 4AA, were guards Larissa Bishop (Arlington Christian School), Hannalee Flynn (Flint River Academy), and power forward/center Ana Anderson (Arlington Christian School).
Hannalee Flynn was a tri-captain and All-Region selection for the FRA Lady Cats this season and helped guide them to a school best 24-6 record on the season and Elite 8 appearance in the state playoffs.
The players met for two days of practice at Augusta Preparatory School in Augusta, Georgia, and then traveled to Columbia, South Carolina, where they squared off against their South Carolinian counterparts. The GISA All-Stars proved to be too much for the South Carolina All-Stars with a 74-51 final score for the game.
When asked about both the game and her all-star experience, FRA guard Hannalee Flynn stated, “Playing in the All-Star game was forever a memorable experience for me. I met many talented athletes and got to play the game I love the most for the last time in my high school career. I met a great group of girls from all across the state and created memories that will last a lifetime.”
