Mrs. Dorothy Vernon Humphries, 94, died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Riverside Nursing Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Humphries will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Barber and Dr. Ed Cliburn officiating. Mrs. Humphries will be buried in Culpeper, Va.

Mrs. Humphries was born on January 29, 1918, in Newport News, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J. Louis Humphries. She moved from Arlington, Va., to Thomaston in April 1979. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the John Houstoun Chapter, NSDAR.

She is survived by her children, Donna (Stewart) Davis of Thomaston; Carol (Mike) Marshall of Atlanta, and John (Nicki) Humphries of McCall, Idaho. Seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also survive.
