
Crime scene in aftermath of fire at 162 Park View in Salem Community Thursday, Oct. 15.

On Oct. 15 at approximately 5:15 a.m., Upson County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to 162 Park View Road, south of Upson County, in reference to a house fire. Upon arrival, a crime scene was discovered and an investigation was conducted by the Upson County Sheriff's Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Crawford County Sheriff's Office and the state fire marshal's office. Further assistance was rendered by the Griffin Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office and the Salem Fire Department. Human remains, believed to be those of Michael and Dorothy Walker, were located in the debris of the burned residence.
Three men were arrested in connection with the deaths: Ronald Laneal Hart, 21, of Muzella; Jeremy Saffold, 29, of Byron; and Octavious Marcil Hart, 32, of Roberta. Each has been charged with two counts of murder and other charges are pending. They are being held without bond in the Upson County jail.
The case remains under investigation.
