Laurie has been working in the media business for most of her career. Her experience includes advertising sales for television and newspaper, advertising director, and starting a newspaper in the city of Buford, GA. She is familiar with businesses in Thomaston, having worked as an Account Executive for Cable Time where she was responsible for cable television commercial insertion in Thomaston, Manchester, Barnesville and Zebulon and also calling on Thomaston businesses as advertising director for several small weekly newspapers nearby. Laurie is active in her community. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Meriwether County, having held all offices including that of President. As President, she led the club for the first time in its 63-year history to win “Best All Around Club” for the district, has been named Rotarian of the Year three times, and served in numerous Rotary district positions, including assistant district governor. She is on the leadership team of Fellowship Campus, The GAP, Streams of Hope and on the Board of Directors of the Meriwether County Chamber of Commerce. She is the proud mother of one son, a teacher and football coach at Manchester High School. She also has nine grandpuppies.

A native of Chicago, John has been in the newspaper business for 38 years, starting in advertising sales at a small weekly in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He has worked at newspapers in Michigan, Wisconsin, Mississippi and Ohio. He joined the LaGrange Daily News in August, 2011. As a Group Publisher he also has responsibility for Heartland Publications newspapers in Ohio, Kentucky and Georgia.

Larry joined The Thomaston Times on January 18, 2010. Larry has been a newspaper journalist for 20 years, with 17 years as an editor. He was editor of The Henry Herald in McDonough GA, Jackson Progress-Argus in Jackson, GA, Henry County Record in McDonough and The Henry County Times. “I love community newspapers and enjoy working with the people of Thomaston/Upson County,” stated Larry. ”I am happy to be a part of the staff of The Thomaston Times as we continue to provide our readers with the best news coverage possible.”

Ashley Biles joined The Thomaston Times staff in May of 2009 and has been the Associate Editor since January of 2010. She is a graduate of Georgia State University with a B.A. in Journalism. Ashley covers local government meetings, events in the community and all things in between. She has always had a passion for writing and believes that everyone has a story to tell, you just have to be willing to look for it. To her, the highlight of her job is getting to meet many interesting people throughout the community and being afforded the opportunity to tell their story.

Wes was born in Savannah, GA, but grew up in Thomaston and attended Upson-Lee High School until his senior year, moving to Macon in 1997. While in Macon he graduated from Windsor Academy in 1998. After graduation Wes attended Lee University, and later Georgia Southern University. He has been working at The Thomaston Times since 2008, and is a huge Georgia Tech fan. In his spare time he enjoys watching sports, reading about sports, and talking about sports, along with playing as much golf as he can fit into his schedule.

Willie Green joined The Thomaston Times staff in 1999 as the Receptionist. She served as Circulation Manager for several years, and is currently the Office Manager. Willie also handles classified advertising and circulation.
