Upson-Lee High School is extending special congratulations to Sarah Swafford and Tyler Stewart, who were named Upson-Lee High School Winners for the prestigious 2014 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. Sarah and Tyler were chosen for excellence in academics, athletics, and community/school leadership.

Sarah Swafford, daughter of Scott and Cheryth Swafford, plays varsity soccer at ULHS and is a multiple All-Region player. She is a member of Beta Club, National Honor Society, Key Club, DECA, and FCA and is a volunteer for the annual Empty Stocking Fund. She is an Upson-Lee High School Knight of Academic Distinction and has signed a 4-year scholarship to Virginia Commonwealth University, where she will be a member of the VCU Rams Soccer Team.

Tyler Stewart, son of Betsy Stewart and Don Stewart, is the kicker/punter for the ULHS Knights Varsity Football Team. Stewart is the ULHS all-time leader in field goals and a two-time First Team All-Region kicker/punter. He is a member of Beta Club, Key Club, and DECA. He was selected as ULHS HOBY Ambassador to the state Leadership Seminar for high school sophomores. His volunteer activities have included Food For Thought, Inside-Out Ministries, and Vacation Bible School. Tyler has signed a 4-year football scholarship to Mars Hill University, where he will be a Mars Hill Lion.

The Wendy’s High School Heisman celebrates the achievements of the nation’s top high school seniors both in and out of the classroom. Just as the collegiate Heisman is known for being the highest award in college football, the Wendy’s High School Heisman award is recognized as the most esteemed award at the high school level because it encourages future leadership by acknowledging well-rounded students.
