FAYETTEVILLE – Mr. Charles Head Dodgen, age 89, of Fayetteville, Ga., died September 4, 2013 at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Dodgen was born on October 19, 1923 in Marietta to the late Roy and Addie Cleo Dodgen and is preceded in death by his wife, Nelwyn Martin Dodgen. He was employed with Georgia Power, where he worked as an electrician for 30 years. Mr. Dodgen served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his daughter, Dr. Diane Dodgen of Keaton Beach, Fla.; sons, Dr. Wayne (Donna) Dodgen of Thomaston, and Mr. Robert M. (Nancy) Dodgen of Fayetteville, Ga. Nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at noon at Camp Memorial Park in Fayetteville, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Charles and Nelwyn Dodgen Nursing Scholarship Fund at Gordon State College, Gordon State College Foundation, 419 College Drive, Barnesville, GA 30204.
