THOMASTON - Mr. Mark Fowler, 51, of Thomaston, died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Funeral services for Mr. Fowler will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of the Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home. Rev. Preston Gleaton will officiate and burial will follow in South View Cemetery.
Mr. Fowler was the owner and lead technician of Mark’s Automotive and Performance Center in Thomaston. He was born at Kincheloe Air Force Base in Kincheloe, Mich., on March 27, 1962 and had lived in Thomaston since 1974.
Mr. Fowler was not only a local business owner, but was also a very well known drag racer with many accomplishments in the sport. He was the 1984 Division 2 runner-up in the Pro E. T., the winner of the 1989 Division 2 Super Pro Race of Champions, the 1989 Super Pro Track Champion, the 2008 and 2009 Silver Dollar Track Champion and made it to the 2009 Million Dollar Race Quarter Finals, as well as many other race wins. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association.
Mr. Fowler was also the co-owner and head engineer of INSANE Engineering and Design.
His passion was his business, racing, and his two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Fowler and Marian Fowler, and his sister, Jean Fowler Hunter.
Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Vicki C. Fowler; his daughter and son-in-law, Sasha and Trey Holley of Zebulon; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Bonnie Corley of Thomaston; and two grandchildren, Jordan Levi Holley and Cazzidy Kane English, both of Zebulon. The family will receive friends at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral home on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 6-8 p.m.
